Westminster Stamped Concrete pours decorative concrete for Westminster homes. We press a pattern into each slab while it's still wet, so the finished concrete looks like stone, brick, slate or wood. We also color, stain and seal concrete, and we repair stamped work that has faded or cracked.
We work across Westminster and in the towns around it.
We start with a visit. We measure the area, check how the yard slopes and where the water goes, and ask how you'll use the space. Then we ask you to pick a pattern and a color. We bring samples, so you can see them in daylight next to your house.
Your quote comes with a sketch of the slab, its pattern and where we'll cut the control joints. Control joints are straight lines we cut into the slab, so that if it cracks, it cracks along them and not across the pattern.
We stamp stamped concrete patios in patterns that look like flagstone (flat, uneven pieces of stone fitted together), slate, cobblestone or wood planks, and we can add a border in a second color.
For stamped concrete driveways we pick a shallower pattern, so it's easier to shovel. We can also keep the stamp to the edges and leave the middle plain.
On stamped concrete pool decks we choose a texture that gives bare feet some grip, and we slope the deck so water drains away from the pool.
We pour stamped concrete walkways from the driveway to the front door or out to the backyard, in a pattern that matches the patio.
We form and stamp stamped concrete steps for porches and patios, so they look the same as the rest of the job.
For colored concrete, we mix the color in before we pour, so it runs all the way through the slab.
With concrete staining, we add color to concrete you already have. We suggest it for a plain gray patio you'd like to brighten without tearing it out.
For exposed aggregate concrete, we wash off the top layer of the cement so the stones in the mix show through.
We pour decorative concrete borders around new slabs to frame a patio or a driveway. On an old slab, we can saw a border pattern into the surface instead.
With concrete sealing, we clean the slab and roll on a fresh coat of sealer. We reseal stamped work when its color starts to look dull.
Our stamped concrete repair work covers cracks, chips and patches of faded color. We'll tell you up front whether a repair will blend in or show.
If your slab is solid but looks tired, we can give it concrete resurfacing, which means a thin new layer of concrete on top. With stamped concrete overlays, we stamp a pattern into that layer, so a plain slab gets a stamped look without a new pour.
Before an overlay, we grind the old slab. On a new slab, we saw in the control joints. Both jobs make dust. OSHA says crystalline silica is a common mineral found in sand, stone and concrete. It says cutting, sawing, grinding or drilling concrete turns that silica into a very fine dust, small enough to breathe in. OSHA also says workers who breathe it face a higher risk of serious diseases, including lung cancer and kidney disease.
On cutting days, keep kids and pets inside and shut the windows on the side of the house where the work is. Ask whoever does the work how they'll keep the dust down.
If your job reaches the public sidewalk, the curb or the street, it needs a city permit. The City of Westminster says any work in the public right-of-way, which takes in curbs and gutters, sidewalks and streets, needs a permit issued to a licensed contractor. To apply, the contractor must have a current Class D public way contractor's license from the city. The city also requires a Colorado 811 locate confirmation number on every application, so buried utility lines are marked before anyone digs.
Before you sign, ask for these on paper:
We can't press a pattern into a slab that has already set, because we stamp concrete while it's still wet. If your slab is sound, we can give it a new pattern with a stamped overlay.
Work in the public right-of-way, like the sidewalk or curb by a driveway, needs a city permit issued to a licensed contractor. For a patio that's entirely on your own land, we check with the city about permits before we start.
We can't promise any concrete won't crack. We place the control joints so that a crack follows a line we planned, not the pattern.
Keep it sealed. Ask us which sealer went on your slab and when it will need another coat.
